Details
Jos Albert (1886-1981)
Femme assise devant un Fenêtre
signed and dated lower right Jos Albert 1915, oil on canvas
24 5/8 x 34in. (62.7 x 86.3cm.)
Jos Albert was probably the most important of the painters who had grouped themselves around Rik Wouters. The group was loosely known as the Brabancon Fauves. Albert did not really begin to enjoy a good critical reputation until after the First World War, but it is interesting to note that he had exhibited at the final show of the Libre Esthétique in 1914
