A 15 x 22mm. silver-plated Ticka camera with top-plate engraved with Queen Alexandra's monogram, body sections hallmarked Henry Charles Kerly London 1906, lens cap attached by body by chain, Time and Instantaneous shutter, interior with printed cardboard label "Ticka" an ever ready waistcoat pocket camera. Patented throughout the world and film spool.

Francis Henry Smith by descent to the vendor of lot 184, Cameras and photographic equipment, 29 October 1987 and thence to the present vendor.

Lot Essay

Francis Henry Smith was a Royal marine serving on the Royal Yacht. He left c.1909 to become the Queen's wardrobe man and later became a King's Messenger for George IV. Houghton's advertised the fact that Queen Alexandra was a Ticka user. The camera was given to Smith by Her Royal Highness.
