The letter, sent out by the United Phonograph Co., of 5 Helmet Row, E.C., indicates that the phonograph was being offered as a promotional scheme, for 5/11d. to cover postage and packing, with an option to 12 cylinders at 11d. each. A circular on the instruction sheet offers a free gramophone to the purchaser of 50 cylinders, or to a customer selling eight phonographs among friends. By July 1908, a company with large stocks of Puck phonographs would have been very anxious to dispose of them by any means
