An Old Sheffield plate centrepiece on a foliate-decorated trefoil base on shell and scrolling foliate feet and engraved with a crest surrounded by foliage within a rubbed in cartouche, the wire-work basket supported by three loosely-draped classical figures and with an egg and dart and bead rim and applied trailing vine swags, apparently unmarked, probably I. and I. Waterhouse and Co., circa 1835 - 17¼in.

An almost identical dessert stand is illustrated on page 295 of History of Old Sheffield Plate by Frederick Bradbury. The illustrated example is fitted with a glass bowl and has a conforming mirror plateau.
