Hand-written, on the fragment of an old newspaper, are the words, This model of the Lodge at Manor House, Castle Coombe, was carved by Chippendale for the Lord of the Manor, Squire Scrorpe? and was given by the Squire to his friend, Dr. James Hooper of Ford, Wiltshire.
