THE JACKSONS
A standard songwriter's contract made on May 27, 1977 between Peacock Music Publishing Company and Michael Joe Jackson, Tariano [Tito] Jackson, Sigmund [Jackie] Jackson and Steven Randall [Randy] Jackson, the printed two page document assigning all the rights to the song Different Kind of Lady to Peacock in lieu of various stipulated royalties on the understanding and agreement that all sums payable should be divvided equally between the five Jackson brothers, giving each a twenty per cent share, signed by Joseph Jackson as publisher and Michael, Tito, Marlon, Jackie and Steven as writers.

During the early 1970s The Jacksons became increasingly dissatisfied with their lack of creative control over their own material at Motown Records. They particuarly wanted more freedom of choice in respect of the record producers and song selection, wanting to have more opportunity to record their own compositions. The brothers turned their problems around by launching their own company - Peacock Music Publishing Company, a family company owned by the brothers and their father Joseph, through which they produced their own material.
