This lot and the following eight lots are all woven with the "Hampton Court" damask pattern. This was first produced in Genoa in circa 1730, but the pattern was very popular and many reproductions were produced during the 19th century. It seems that most of the following lots are 19th century copies, possibly produced by French and Co. themselves, although they are all of the correct width (approx. 21in) and many have fine selvedges.
