A Japanese red lacquer flattened quatrefoil koro and pierced domed cover with seated figure finial, decorated to each side in the Shibayama-style with panels of birds in flight and perched on the branches of flowering shrubs on a black ground, on a ground carved in relief with clouds below a band of lappets -- 6½in.wide, signed on a mother-of-pearl tablet.
