JIMI HENDRIX
A prototype OCTAVIO distortion effect pedal built for Hendrix by Roger Mayer in 1967. The unit is contained in a gray metal box with an angled top, labeled OCTAVIO in black capitol letters. The final "O" is circled to indicate the distinction between the prototype and the later OCTAVIA effect pedal, which is still in use today. Much of the original lettering has worn off from age and use. There are 2 rotary controls for volume level and the amount of gain, an on/off stomp switch and input and output jacks to connect the pedal between the instrument and amplifier, which are labeled IN and OUT in black felt pen. Jimi's settings are also still intact, marked in black felt pen. This pedal was used by Hendrix on several recordings, notably on "Purple Haze" and "One Rainy Wish", as well as in live performances with the Experience. Accompanied by letters of authenticity from road manager Eugene McFadden and Noel Redding.
Size: 6½ x 3¾ x 2½ in.
