A pair of Regency mahogany stools, each with scroll carved caned seat on X-frame supports centred by a patera joined by a turned stretcher, with scroll terminals and bun feet, the stretchers possibly replaced one stamped within initial S -- 24in. (61cm.) wide.
cf. A matched pair of very similar X-frame stools with central roundels rather than flowerheads, sold Christies King St, 19 April 1990, lot 35. Stools of this design were supplied to Tatton Park, Cheshire by Gillows in 1812 (N.Goodison & J.Hardy, Gillows at Tatton Park, F.H.S.Journal 1970, p.22)
