(133cm.) wide.

This attractively painted commode is a fine example of the Victorian Adam revival style; the overall form derives from a group of Adam commodes including the celebrated Countess of Derby commode, (discussed by H.Roberts, Burlington Magazine, May 1985 pp. 275-282) and the commodes in the state appartments at Osterley (illustrated in M.Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam period Furniture, Victoria & Albert Museum, 1982 pp.75-6)
The rams head uprights headed by paterae with trailing and festooned bellflowers terminating in anthemia relate to those on the marquetry library table by Chippendale for Harewood House.
