Lot Essay

Lalique's early interest and love of naturalistic motifs used extensively in his Art Nouveau creations, continued in his Art Deco designs. The "Poissons" vase demonstrates beautifully his skillful way of stylizing naturalistic elements into a contemporary more geometrical pattern and is typical of many of late 1920's designs.
