A good 19th century vernier sextant signed Cary, London 'Platina' scale reading 5-0-139, 'A' shaped oxidised brass frame with screwed on T section stiffening, swivel magnifier to vernier, seven shades, sun inverting telescope and other accessories in fitted and velvet lined mahogany carrying box -- 8½in.(22cm)radius 12in.(30cm)width of box. This horizon mirror frame is mounted on trunnious; the base of the frame has a tail assembly projecting downward through the main frame of the sextant and an adjusting screw with milled head allows for very critical adjustment of side error.
