Founded by Karl Karlovitch Hahn in the latter half of the nineteenth century, the eponymous firm was one of Fabergé's biggest rivals in St. Petersburg, producing jewelled and enamelled objects of high quality. The firm held the Imperial Warrant, its most important Imperial commission being a copy of Duval's 'small crown of the Empress', for Empress Alexanda Feodorovna to wear at her coronation, the original being worn by the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna.
