A firman confirming the appointment of Henry Salt to the post of British Consul in Egypt, manuscript on paper, seven lines of Ottoman black diwani punctuated with gold roundels below the tughra of Sultan Mahmud II flanked by a rose and a tulip, the reverse with a translation (creasing, slight water staining) -- 29in x 21in, glazed on both sides and framed, Ottoman, 20 Muharram AH 1231/23rd December 1815 AD.
