An early questionaire concerning Paul McCartney's expenses in Hamburg incurred during his first two visits to Germany, August-December 1960 and January-July 1961, the two and a half page document comprising one page of typescript questions and another page of corresponding answers inscribed in McCartney's hand in blue ink, giving his gross weekly income as:180 marks; itemizing various expenses such as instruments: Bass guitar approx. #35. Strings - approx. #2 per week. Amplifier instalment 15/- per wk. approx..; stage clothing: Leather trousers #20-#23 per pair approx. Jacket.#12...; advertising: Tapes for recordings to send abroad & hire of tape recorder..; Income since return from Germany: ..Worked approx. 4 to 5 days of week @ 25/- to 20/- per evening per head. Also 1 0r 2 Cavern lunchtime sessions at 25/- per head.
