Lot Essay

According to Stanley Parkes, John Lennon gave him his jacket in circa 1962 when Brian Epstein's influence caused The Beatles to clean up their image. They abandoned their preferred dress of leather suits, pointed shoes, tight trousers, long side-burns and teddy boy hair styles for the more familiar look of four 'mop-topped' figures identically dressed in matching stage-suits, which we associate with the group between 1962-1965.
