A late 18th century black basalt oval plaque, raised with a portrait bust, with head to dexter, of the Emperor Augustus, his hair wreathed, with the legend DIVVS AVGVST, (Augustus of blessed memory) -- 5½in. (14cm.) high, in a giltwood and gesso frame.
