Lot Essay
The date of excavation of the Antique statue of Apollo Sauroctonus is unknown. It can, however, be traced in the Borghese collection as early as 1650. The marble is currently in the Louvre.

A 19th century French bronze figure, after the Antique, of Apollo Sauroctonus, the rectangular base inscribed F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR and with the Reduction Mechanique stamp -- 13in. (33cm.) high, on a stepped slate plinth.
