A Chinese dated black and gilt lacquer bed with back and sides formed as an open scroll, painted with a central landscape dividing two poems and birds amongst plants reserved on a low relief ground of birds amongst prunus and bamboo, the sides similarly painted and carved above the polished seat with central two door cupboard below and two drawers, each carved with animals, the back and sides red painted and the sides painted with further birds and flowers, minor restorations, 19th Century -- 41in. (106cm.) high, 84¾in. (215cm.) wide.
