A 19th-Century brass surveying compass, the silvered dial signed Browning & Son Boston, and finely engraved with scrolls and fluer-de-lis North point, the blued-iron needle with clamp and scale divided in 4 quadrants, the limb with twin sights and universal ball socket staff mounting, with makers trade label, in fitted mahogany case - 13½in. (34.3cm.) wide.
