A fine 19th-Century presentation lacquered brass compound monocular microscope, signed on the stand M Pillischer London No. 853., the double body tube with rack and pinion focusing, graduated inner tube and fine adjustment, the curved limb with twin diagonal supports, the mechanical stage with slide holder, tangent screw adjustment and locations for forceps and other accessories, the lower stage with mounting for sub-stage condenser, adjustable by rack and pinion, the plano-concave mirror mounted on the lower limb, with accessories, including bull's-eye, wheel, and Abbe condensers, polariser, 1/8 Inch, ½ Inch, 1 Inch and 2 Inch objectives by Pillischer, ¼ Inch objective by Husband & Clarke, 4 eyepieces, and other items, in glazed burr walnut cabinet with 3 short and 1 long drawer - 29in. (73.7cm.) high; and a companion slide cabinet (minus slides) of 28 drawers, the door with bone makers trade label inscribed M. Pillischer Optician 88 New Bond St. London, the cabinet - 20¾in.
