A pair of cylindrical vases with petal-shaped rims, painted and heavily gilt with hanging pendants of Tokugawa mon above butterflies and chrysanthemum heads, on grounds of further chrysanthemum sprays and borders of lappets to the feet (one vase with a 6in. vertical crack from the rim) -- 11¾in. high, with a blue enamel Satsuma mon to the bases.
