As most of the religious ethical literature in Yiddish, this book was directed principally, although not entirely, towards women. It discusses manners and etiquette in the context of German Jewish life and emphasized the joys of living. The book enjoyed great popularity and was reprinted many times. Vinograd registered 25 editions until 1863 since the first edition (Frankfurt-am-Main, 1707).
