Rosenthal, Anti-Christian Polemics from its Beginnings to the End of the 18th century in Aresheth vol 2, 104.

Troki (1533-94) wrote his epoch-making Chizzuk Emunah to strengthen Jews in combating Christian argumentation, to defend the Jewish interpretation of the Bible, to refute the arguments of writers against the Jewish religion, to point out in detail discrepancies in the Gospels and to show the superiority of Judaism. (See: Jewish Encyclopedia vol. 12 pp. 265-66). The work remained for many years in manuscripts, and the text underwent many changes at the hands of copyists. It was first published, with a Latin translation, by Wagenseil in his Tela Ignea Satanae (Altdorf 1681). After this first edition of Wagenseil, only the Hebrew text was reprinted for Jewish use in Amsterdam 1705. The name of the printer however is not mentioned. The book was translated into Yiddish and published in Amsterdam too at 1717. Here again the name of the printer as well as of the translator remained concealed probably for fear of church authorities.
