Isaac Nieto (1687-1773) was haham and Av Bet Din of the Spanish and Portuguese congregation Sha'are Shamain, Bevis Marks, London, succeeding his father (David Nieto) in 1732. This work is a separate edition of the translation into Spanish, probably taken from his translation of the liturgy for Rosh ha-Shanah and Yom Kippur which first appeared at London, 1740. His translations of the prayer book were highly regarded for their style, and were the basis of all subsequent translations (e.g. those of Pinto, and A. and D. da Sola). See: Jewish Encyclopedia, vol. 9 p. 303.
