A Persian dagger with grooved steel blade and scrolling damascened guard, the top of the blade with a line of calligraphy among interlaced flowerheads, the white-metal and damascened hilt decorated with further cartouches of foliage and with gilt-metal mounted wood scabbard -- 16½.in.long, signed Mohamad Hayat Hadad, possibly 18th century.
