This salver was purchased during the Second World War from the Misses Hope-Clark who owned a shop called The Silver Thimble in Wimbledon. The ladies advertised for donations of silver, receiving a huge response from all over the country, some items even being given by the Royal Family. The pieces were then sold, the funds purchasing two spitfire aircraft for the war effort.
