Details
A finely engineered 1/16th in : 1ft scale model of a tandem compaound jet condensing Corliss valve mill engine 'Eleanor' built by N Handley. Measurements overall -- 12 x 40½in (30.5 x 103cm)
With brass bound blued steel clad cylinders 1 1/8 and 1½in bore x 2¼in stroke, cylinder pressure relief valves, dummy displacement lubricators, studded stuffing boxes, modified Dobson/Musgrave valve gear, belt and gear driven Hartnell governor and linkage, slipper type crosshead guide, tapered connecting rod with bolted, wedged split brasses, big end pressure lubricator, pierced eccentrics with oil pots, pedestal type crankshaft bearings with oil pots and split bolted spoked flywheel with barring ring and rope grooves. Further details include main stop valve and inlet pipe, lagged transfer pipe, piston tail shaft driven air pump 7/8in bore incorporated within the condensor, pipework and valves, flywheel pit, stauchions and handrails and pedestal mounted mechanical lubricator, vacuum, LP and boiler pressure gauges and change over valve for running on compressed air. Finished in green black, red and polished brightwork and mounted on a simulated brick plinth and stone floor.
