A Victorian silver gilt and tortoiseshell oblong inkstand on griffin feet, the back plate cast, pierced and chased with putti, birds, scrolling foliage and a vacant oval cartouche, applied with a pen rest and a monogram and fitted with a silver-topped cut glass square inkwell, the domed hinged cover with foliate rim and spiral-fluted finial, probably William Richard Corke, London 1893 - 6½in.
