An Arita baluster jar painted in underglaze blue, coloured enamels and gilt with a continuous band of ho-o and butterflies in flight among prunus, chrysanthemums and peonies issuing from rockwork below hanging drapes tied with tassles, the shoulder with cartouches of cockerels and chicks on a ground of scrolling lotus flowers and leaves -- 17in. high, circa 1700.
