This shade is similar to one that was made for "Wawapek", Robert W. DeForest's house in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island and is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. The composition of the Indian Basket Hanging Shade mimics the Indian baskets created in Northern California with their characteristic tight weave in geometric patterns. The pattern comprises many fine pieces of glass in the outer leaded glass pattern, not unlike that used in the small "American Indian" leaded glass desk lamp.
