A Victorian oblong card case die-stamped with a view of Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott from 1811 until his death in 1832, the reverse and the side-hinged cover decorated with scrolling foliage and strap-work, with a vacant shield-shaped cartouche, Gervase Wheeler, Birmingham 1837 or 1837 - 3¾in.; and an oblong mother-of-pearl veneered card case engraved with flowers and foliage and inset with two abalone panels with similar engraving, the side hinged cover with vacant cartouche - 4in.
