An Arita bowl painted in underglaze blue, coloured enamels and gilt, the exterior with a continuous band of butterflies in flight among chrysanthemums above a band of flowerheads and stiff leaves to the foot, the interior with a central fowerhead within a border of hatch pattern and hanging floral pendants to the rim -- 9¼in. diam.
