A finely detailed fully planked and rigged 3/16in : 1ft scale model of the frigate U.S.S. 'Constellation' originally built 1797 at Boston and modelled as equipped in 1811/12 from U.S. Navy Department drawings by M.C. Puttock -- 40 x 57in (101.5 x 144.8cm)

With bound masts with cheeks, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with scale blocks and cord sizes and deck details including carved figurehead of George Washington holding a scroll, anchors with brass bound wooden stocks, catheads with flower decoration, capstan, belaying rails and pins, hammock nettings, balustrading, gratings, cleats, shot racks and shot, upper deck carronades in slides with correct tackle and finely built carvel planked long boat in chocks with bottom boards, thwarts and oars. Additional details include stove pipe, double helm and stern davits with sheaves. The hull, planked in walnut with ebony whale and keel, stem and stern post rabbited in lime has glazed stern and quarter windows, decks planked in basswood with planked bulwarks all secured with trenails and boxwood fittings and is finished in natural wood. Mounted on two turned brass columns. Display base.
