A fine and detailed display model of the displacement racing speedboat 'Dixie II' of 1908 -- 9 x 44in (23 x 112cm)
With details including cleats, ventilators, navigation lights, exhaust stubs, windscreen, steering wheel, flags and other details. The hull, with single shaft, two blade propeller and rudder, finished in green with gilded boot top, white and varnish. Mounted on two turned brass columns on inlaid mahogany base with brass bound glazed case.

Lot Essay

Dixie II was built by C.H.Crane and fitted with a 220 hp V8 Crane - Whitman engine for E.F.Schroeder. She won the Harmworth Trophy and American Power Boat Ass. Gold Cup and is reported to have made a new World Record at 37.113 mph
