A fine early 19th century fully planked builder's model of a third class barge from the arsenal of Boulogue. Hull measurements -- 5½ x 49in. (14 x 125.4cm).
With masts and spars unrigged, the fully planked hull finished in black is double planked to the waterline and copper plated is fully framed with fore locker and aft seating, bottom boards in the form of removable gratings, oarsman's foot rests, thwarts, rollocks for eleven oarsmen per side, catheads with sheaves, tiller and rudder. Masts, yards and oars are racked under the model which is mounted on two turned wood and two brass columns and wood base (some old damages). (See illustration)
