Abu Muhammad al-Qasim b. 'Ali b. Othman al-Hariri: Al-Muqamat, a manuscript of stylistic prose in thick black naskh changing to flowing brown naskh, important words in red -- 8¼in. x 5¾in., Near East AH 760/1358 AD.
Abu Muhammad al-Qasim died in 1123 AD. This is one of the earliest dated copies of this well-known text. The Garrett Collection of Arabic manuscripts at Princeton University holds three early copies, no. 194 dated AH794/1391AD, no. 195 dated AH768/1366AD, and no. 196 dated AH714/1314-15AD. The last is probably the earliest of all dated examples.
