'Songs of Zion, being imitations of Psalms', the author's original 105 pp. manuscript, 4°, signed on the title, intialled and dated Sheffield, March 29 1822 at the end, with a letter dated June 28 1822 from Montgomery to James Everett, declaring that he is sending the manuscript, laid down at front, 19th-century half roan; together with a manuscript copy of Robert Lowth's poem 'The Choice of Hercules'. Songs of Sion was published by Longman etc. in London in 1822, proving popular enough to reach a third edition by 1828.
