AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN (1863-1937); NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN (1869-1940) & OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY
A collection of 9 a.l.s. and 5 t.l.s. by Austen Chamberlain, dated from between January 1924 and November 1935, all to Commander Locker Lampson discussing various articles and publications, including one secretarial letter signed by Chamberlain, on paper headed 11 Downing St., S.W.1. and dated 36 Sloane Court, S.W.3., March 13th, 1923 referring to a note from Jack Gilmour: 'I have sent a message to Bonar Law that the story about me is wholly untrue -- that I did not meet you, and that I took no part, direct or indirect, in the Mitcham candidature', another 3pp. t.l.s. dated 2 Morpeth Mansions, S.W.1., 4th March 1924, states: 'I saw both Stanley Baldwin and F.E. yesterday and have written to Winston. I hear that he is angry with me, but this can only be as a result of some misconception of the part that I played. I have been anxious to help him all through'; together with a quantity of t.l.s. and a.l.s.from members of the Chamberlain family and other acquaintances of Locker-Lampson, including 3 t.l.s. and 1 a.l.s. by Neville Chamberlain, dated 37 Eaton Square, S.W.1., March 18th 1932 -- March 8th 1935; and 27 a.l.s. and a t.l.s. from possible contributors to the Joseph Chamberlain Museum, with two photographs of Chamberlain and Locker-Lampson.
