A collection of approximately 42 a.l.s., including a 2pp. a.n.s. by Wells, dated Spade House, Sandgate, to an unidentified dramatist stating that his comedies 'are first rate'; a 2pp. a.l.s. by Baden-Powell, dated Battle Abbey, Sussex, 9th December, 1906, to Miss Hozier (possibly the future Clementine Churchill), accepting an invitation to dinner and apologising for the late reply; a 4pp. a.l.s. by Victoria, Duchess of Kent (Queen Victoria's Mother), on headed paper with an engraving showing Abergeldie Castle, dated August 27th, 1853, to Lord James, thanking him for his birthday wishes and discussing Prince Albert's birthday: 'I gave a ball for my servants and to all the Highlanders near here at Balmoral. Sir Charles's famous piper Duncan Campbell enlivened the ball very much!', contained in original envelope; a design for a pediment in pencil ascribed to 'Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, Commander in Chief in India; it represents His Excellency's idea of what would make a handsome piece over a hall door - it has been carried out. R.H. Phillimore, 11.8.09'; a 2pp a.l.s. by J. S. Mill, dated India House, 19th January 1852, complaining that his furniture had still not been removed from the house; other correspondents include A.T. Quiller-Couch, C.M. Yonge, Lord Palmerston, H.
