A 1½ x 2 inch Improved-pattern patent Watch camera with nickel-plated body, six-part sprung telescoping section, engine-turned cover engraved J. Lancaster & Sons's Birmingham. Patent, Grubb-type achromatic lens with sprung drop-shutter, rear ground glass focusing screen.

Lancaster's Watch camera was the subject of British patent number 12,571 of 4 October 1886. The camera appeared in a commercial form from 1886 and the Improved-pattern appeared from 1890.
