A Japanese gold lacquer three-tier box and cover in the form of a melon, decorated in coloured hiramakie with trailing vines on a fundame ground, the interior in nashiji (chips, old repair) -- 6in.high; and a black lacquer rectangular tray decorated in hiramakie and inlaid in samegawa with a butterfly among morning glory (slight old damage) -- 12in.wide, 18th/19th century.
