VIVIEN LEIGH
A collection of eleven letters and cards, circa 1960s, written by Ms. Leigh to Ms. Mae Lewis in New York, together with a candid color photograph of the star. The letters discuss the actress's work in "Ship Of Fools" and "Tovarich", discuss her travel plans and thank Ms. Lewis for her many gifts. Ms. Leigh apologizes for not feeling well, "...I am sorry I was feeling unwell when you came to see me. It turned out to be flu." Includes a 1967 letter from her lawyer which states. "It was good that you were able to see her when you did, and I would like you to know that she remained as cheerful as ever to the end. She died peacefully, without pain or premonition, and if it had to be, that is how it should have been." (11)
