MARGARET MITCHELL
A landscape painting by American artist J.Lee Edwards; the painting is referred to in the 1952 edition of "The Atlanta Civigraphs". "...From Mrs. Edwards we happen to learn the sequel to the story of two of Lee's paintings we had admired in Mr. John Marsh's living room. Mrs. Marsh, to whom the Edwards had given them, liked one of them so much that she had selected wall paper to set off the deep red of turned Clayton County furrows, with pines in the background, that Lee had painted. It had reminded her of the fields of Tara, in her "Gone With The Wind." After Mrs. Marsh's death, Mr. Marsh used Lee's pictures over his living room mantle in the house he bought, and had the walls done to match the red clay tones." Together with a xerox copy of the article regarding the painting--21¾ x 27¾ in.--framed.
