A 3¾inch refracting telescope signed on the back plate DOLLOND LONDON,the 43 inch(109.2cm)long mahogany body tube (with split), with star finder, screw on dust cover, internal screw adjustment, on an alt-azimuth tripod mount, with presentation plaque This telescope belonged to Brigadier General Don Juan Manuel De Rogag. He was governor of Buenos Ayres for 23 years and died in England (near Southampton) on 14 March 1877 aged 84. By him it was given to Dr. Wiblin of Southampton who presented it in August 1878 to Merthyn Guest Esq. in a fitted mahogany case with accessories and Dollond trade label -52½in.(133.5cm)long, with associated tripod in case(one leg with damaged thread)
