Benjamin Martin (1704/5-1782) was one of the foremost scientific instrument makers of the 18th Century specialising in optics, microscopes and spectacles, while also covering the whole spectrum of Scientific instruments and globes. In the 1770's Martin introduced his 'opake solar microscope' which proved very popular on his lecture circuit
