HOGARTH, William. Les Satyres, London, Robert Sayer, 1768, lge. 2°, 77 engraved plates by Hogarth only (of 79), 2 folding (5 plates with neat repairs, the "Rake's Progress" series of 8 plates all cut down to plate mark and mounted to size, occasional light browning), later half morocco (rubbed).

Provenance: "James Ford, London, 1848" (ownership inscription on verso of front cover). It is evidently Ford who excised the 2 plates, "Before" and "After", noting that he regarded them as "a disgrace to the work & therefore cut out by J.F."
