Georgius Nicomediensis (1604-75) and Johannes CHRSYSOTOMUS (Archbishop of Constantinople) -- "Mariale." A MANUSCRIPT in Latin in two parts, published by Hippolitus Marraccy of the Congregation of the Order of Regular Clerics of the Mother of God, Saater Kreis in Bohemia, [n.d.], 4°, the first part, by Georgius, 123ll, the second part, by Chrysotomus, 122ll., each part separately titled and in a different hand, the first in an 18th-century scribal hand, the second earlier (title to the first part soiled and repaired), with at the end a life of Georgius by Marraccy, 15ll., probably his original manuscript (this rather browned), 19th-century yellow boards (spine lacking).
Provenance: Sir Thomas Phillipps (shelf mark on title: 349 Van Ess Ph 733). A 19th-century manuscript note on the inside cover reads: "Identified by the British Museum as containing the original manuscript of Hippolitus Maracci. Died 1675. & the "Mariale" by George Metropolitan of Nicomedia. Value about 3-10-0." There may have been confusion here between the date of Maracci's death and that of Georgius which Marraci himself gives as 1675.
