An extensive Edwardian canteen of cutlery, comprising; a twelve place setting of Old English pattern flatware, comprising; tablespoons, table forks, dessert spoons, dessert forks and teaspoons, with a soup ladle, a basting spoon, a pair of sauce ladles, a fish slice and fork, a pair of salad servers, a pair of asparagus tongs, six egg spoons, a pair of sugar tongs, a sugar spoon, a pickle fork, a butter knife, two salt spoons, a mustard spoon, a pair of fern-engraved grape shears and a bread fork, with four matching knife rests, a set of twelve napkin rings, twelve pairs of fish knives and forks, with engraved silver blades and prongs and ivory handles, twelve matching pairs of dessert knives and forks, twelve table knives, twelve cheese knives and a five-piece carving set with steel blades and prongs and ivory handles, and two pairs of plated nut crackers, the majority of pieces engraved with a monogram, in an oak fitted canteen with rising lid and two hinged doors enclosing three graduated drawers, all lined in purple plush, the hinged cover with brass cartouche with presentation inscription, Walker and Hall, Sheffield, and Chester various dates - weight of silver 176oz. free.
